COSAR called to 2 rescues on Sunday

Crews dispatched to KVR Christie Falls

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue conducted two rescues on Sunday – this after beginning their day with a four-hour training session on wildfire safety.

At around 1:00 pm – crews attended to an injured mountain biker on the Kettle Valley Railway.

A woman in her 60's, a tourist from South Africa, crashed and suffered head injuries and a possible concussion – she was apparently not wearing a helmet.

She was stabilized and turned over to BC ambulance services.

And at around 7:00 pm – a Quebec man in his 20's was rescued at Christie Falls up Bear Creek Road in West Kelowna.

He took a fall off a rope swing and sustained serious injuries to his lower body.

16 COSAR members, with help from 4 Penticton search and rescue rope team members, and a member of the Prince George search and rescue rope team who was in the area, helped stabilize the subject while a Cormorant helicopter from 442 squadron in Comox was dispatched.

The victim was then airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital where he's recovering.
