Smoking a cigarette on a deck turns into blaze.
Smoking a cigarette on an outdoor deck proved to be a bad idea for one Kelowna resident.
At around 1:30 this afternoon, fire crews responded to fire at the rear of a residence on Springfield Road.
When crews arrived, the deck was extinguished by the occupant of the home, who suffered a minor hand injury.
While the cause is undetermined, the Kelowna Fire Department would like to remind the public to dispose of smoking materials in a non-combustible container.
