Transit changes coming Sept. 2

Two new routes, as well as other improvements coming next month

Next month, there will be some improved bus routes in Kelowna’s Regional Transit System, as well as some entirely new ones.

Starting Sunday, September 2nd, two new routes, 18 Glenmore/Downtown and 19 Glenmore Orchard Park, will replace the current 7 Glenmore route.

The 6 Glenmore/UBCO route will now operate all day seven days a week, and will go directly between Glenmore and UBCO via the new John Hindle Drive roadway.

Other transit changes include:

  • Route 4 UBCO Express offering service on Sexsmith Rd and Academy Way
  • Route 23 Lake Country offering service to UBCO every 15 minutes during rush hour in the mornings (7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) and afternoons (2:30 p.m.to 6 p.m.)
  • The discontinuation of route 27 Horizon due to low ridership
  • Improved frequency on the 29 Bear Creek and 97 Okanagan routes.

Full service will be starting up again for routes serving schools and post-secondary institutions, just in time for the school year to begin.

Later on in the fall, the 8 University/OK College and 10 North Rutland routes will serve the new Rutland Exchange.
