Woodworking shop burned on Webster Road
Kelowna firefighters prevented a blaze at a Rutland woodworking company from becoming much worse on Friday evening.
When crews arrived just before 7:40 pm at Heartland Millworks on Webster Road – heavy flames and smoke were coming from half of the large building.
Firefighters managed to save one half of the structure and the machinery inside – but the other half suffered major damage.
There was no-one in the building – but it did contain some highly flammable materials: about 150 gallons of assorted acetone, paint thinners and lacquer's where in or near building during the fire.
Fire officials believe the blaze started in the staining/finishing area – and were to continue investigating Saturday.
