Additional resources are part of the BCEHS Action Plan
22 new full-time paramedics will be coming to the Central Okanagan, as part of the BC Emergency Health Services' Action Plan.
16 of these will be hired in Kelowna, while West Kelowna will receive 4, and Lake Country will be getting 2.
The BCEHS Action Plan identifies where emergency services need a boost across the province, and listed the Central Okanagan, particularly Kelowna, as a priority location.
In the last year, 72 new paramedic positions have been created in BC, adding to the dozens of community and specialized paramedic positions that have opened.
