20 foot flames extinguished Monday afternoon
The Kelowna Fire Department was able to knock down a hedge fire before considerable damage could be done on Monday.
Two engines, a command vehicle and nine personnel arrived around 1:44PM, Monday September 17, 2018 to find the fire in the alley behind Stockwell Avenue, east of Richter Street. The cedar hedge was approximately 20 feet long, and 20 foot flames were creating a large plume of smoke. A small garden shed suffered minor damage and the trees had to be cut down to stop the fire.
Fire and police officials are still investigating the cause.
