Eligible projects could receive up to 8,000 in grant money
Anyone with a rental housing project in the works will be able to apply for a grant to help with development costs from now until November 19th.
Long-range planning manager James Moore says this year's rental housing grant pool comes in at around $320,000.
"The larger the number of bedrooms – the bigger your share," says Moore. "We recognize that there's a shortage of three-bedroom units in Kelowna, so there's a larger incentive for three-bedroom units than there are for one-bedroom units, but each project is equally eligible for the allocation of funding."
The maximum grant that a project can receive is $8,000.
Some requirements include the project having five or more dwellings, as well as a housing agreement with the City, and they must be prepared to begin construction in 2019.
