Charles Horvath still missing after almost 30 years

Last seen on May 26th, 1989

It's been nearly 30 years since Charles Horvath went missing in Kelowna.

The 20-year-old checked into the Tiny Town Campground in Kelowna during a backpacking trip, and was last seen cashing a cheque on May 26th, 1989

He then disappeared, leaving his belongings at the campground.

Since then, his mother, Denise Allan, has made frequent trips from London, England to Kelowna in search of answers.

"I know that someone murdered my son… I know that his remains are out there somewhere… I know that there are people in Kelowna who know exactly what happened to my son, but are afraid to come forward," said an emotional Allan during her visit to Kelowna on Friday. "I will never understand what my son did to deserve such a violent fate, but I want you to know that I forgive you."

Allan says that she hopes to find her son's remains so that she can lay him to rest in Cambridge, England.

Kelowna RCMP are still investigating all these years later, and also believe Horvath's dissappearance to be suspicious in nature.

Anyone with more information on Horvath's disappearance is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
