BC Federation of Labour President wont seek reelection

Irene Lanzinger was elected in 2014

The first woman president of the BC Federation of Labour has announced that she will not be seeking another two year-term.

Irene Lanzinger, who was first elected in 2014, has been one of the strongest advocates for the minimum wage increase to $15 dollars in BC.

In a statement, Lanzinger praised the current labour movement's push for balanced labour laws and safer workplaces, before saying it was time for a new leader to take her place.

A new President will be elected at the Federation's 58th annual convention next month.
