Okanagan Jewish community to hold vigil

As the world continues to mourn the senseless massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue over the weekend, The Okanagan Jewish community is inviting everyone to a prayer and solidarity service tonite at 7…Chabad Okanagan Centre for Jewish Life and Learning, 2597 Richter Street in Kelwona.

Rabbi Shmuly Hecht says, "An attack on a Jewish community is an attack on us all. Our hearts are broken and saddened. No words can describe this horror and evil."

The Rabbi adds, "We will fight hatred with love and fight evil with goodness." He urges everyone to perform acts of kindness to make this world a better place.

Rabbi Hecht is reaching out to Jewish students throughout the Okanagan with advice on being safe and what to do if threatened with hate, violence or anti semetic attacks of any kind. The number one thing is call 911 and report any threats to police immediately.
