Little Scholars at Okanagan College is offering child care for no more than 200 a month
A Kelowna child care centre has become one of the 50 sites in BC to start offering services for no more than $200 a month.
Little Scholars at Okanagan College, which is run by the Okanagan YMCA, has been selected as part of the BC Government’s Universal Child Care Prototype Project.
"We committed to introduce affordable, accessible and quality child care for B.C. parents," said Katrine Conroy, Minister of Children and Family Development. "This project is a step toward fulfilling our goal to bring universal child care to B.C., and we're excited to be working with organizations like the YMCA to make life better for families."
The project will model what high-quality, affordable child care may look like in the province. In total, parents of 2,500 children will benefit from the prototype phase alone.
Provincial funding will also allow Little Scholars to offer 51 low cost child care spaces.
