No injuries or significant damage reported
Kelowna Fire Crews responded to reports of a fire at the Parkinson Rec Centre just after 9:30 Thursday morning, causing the building to be evacuated.
Captain Robert Skeldon says it turned out to be a grease fire in the kitchen.
"It was very minor," he says. "We had some small flames just over top of the oven, so no actual damage, and no risk to the public or anybody inside.
He says two ambulances were on the scene as a precaution.
People were waiting outside the building for about 20 minutes so that crews could ventilate the smoke from the building.
