Downtown On Call works to keep Kelowna safe from everyday issues relating to personal safety and hospitality.
They're known as "your friendly neighbourhood redshirts” – the Downtown on Call team are trained to keep Kelowna safe.
Covering a 42 square block radius, the Downtown On Call (DOC) team is trained to deal with front line issues related to personal safety and hospitality in the downtown area. The DOC team, in close connection with the RCMP, offer walking and bank deposit escorts, on-site assistance for loitering and aggressive pan-handling, loss prevention and drug paraphernalia clean-up.
Rounding out almost ten years in Kelowna, Mark Burley the Executive Director for Downtown Kelowna Services says “one of the bigger parts of Downtown on Call is the presence of being out there for people who are working or shopping in downtown Kelowna.”
The Downtown on Call services are available seven days a week:
Monday – Thursday 7am-9pm
Friday-Saturday 7am – 11pm
Sunday 10am-5pm
