Rutland and Shannon Lake Elementary schools to benefit
The province has announced new funding for playground equipment.
The government is investing $5 million in 50 new playgrounds in 34 school districts across BC – including at Kelowna's Rutland Elementary – and West Kelowna's Shannon Lake Elementary.
Education Minister Rob Fleming says safe, fun and accessible playgrounds are part of the learning environment at BC schools – and the money should also take some pressure off parents, so they don't have to fundraise in their spare time.
The playgrounds are expected to be ready in the fall.
