Downtown Association calls for more police presence in city core

Three males arrested

Glass companies kept busy over the weekend after a number of windows were smashed in Kelowna's downtown.

Among them, Kelly O'Bryans restaurant and the CIBC branch but there were others.

RCMP responded to 49 complaints in the downtown alone.

Mark Burley speaks for the Kelowna Downtown Association, "It's tough for everybody. We have our downtown on call guys who are out on the streets 7 days a week. We're on max staff on that. But more visitilibity, some enforcement, from other agencies like the police, I think the city needs to give us a hand on this."

Burley says the Kelowna Downtown Association will advocate for more enforcement and more visibility downtown.

Three males were eventually arrested in relation to a string of offenses including property damage…causing a disturbance…outstanding warrants…assaulting a peace officer…uttering threats and escaping lawful custody.
