New ones in Penticton Wednesday morning
The weather was ripe yesterday for wildfires – and West Kelowna firefighters were called to three of them.
Two grass fires sprung up within hours of each other – one on Lower Glenrosa Road and the second off Carrington Road near Winners.
The third began in the evening at the end of Rose Valley Road.
Firefighters had to haul gear 800-metres uphill to the site of the fire. The BC Wildfire Service also helped out with ground crews and aircraft.
The two grass fires – on Lower Glenrosa Road and Carrington – were human caused – there's no cause yet for the fire on Rose Valley Road.
Two new fires have sprung up in Penticton – above Highway 97 on West Hills Road and Green Mountain Road. The BC Wildfire Service reports both are under a hectare in size.
