Bodies of boaters on Osoyoos Lake recovered

Two men killed in weekend crash

The bodies of two people, missing after two boats collided on Osoyoos Lake on the weekend, have been recovered.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located the bodies of a 35-year-old man from Kamloops – and a 36-year-old man from Maple Ridge Sunday evening.

The accident happened Saturday when a speeding boat plowed into a second one – send the speeding boat into the air before it crashed into the water and sank.

Three people were rescued immediately after the crash – and at last word – remain in critical condition.

Police are still on the scene working to raise both boats from the bottom of the lake – and RCMP marine analysts are helping Osoyoos RCMP in the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the collision – or the boats prior to the crash – and anyone who may have video footage is asked to contact RCMP at 250-495-7236..
