Pick your Path to Kelowna 2040 award
Council received a report recognizing Communications staff who recently received a Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for the Pick your Path to Kelowna 2040 exhibit and storybook.
Airport parking
Council gave first reading to the proposed rezoning for a proposal is to add a 600-stall gravel parking lot adjacent to the existing parking lot at Kelowna International Airport. As part of YLW’s continued growth, the airport has identified the need to expand parking. The proposal was forwarded to a future public hearing.
Rutland Road North multi-family
A proposal for a three-storey, 17-unit apartment building that provides a mix of one- and two- bedroom units at 515 Rutland Road North was considered by Council. An existing single-family home on the property will be demolished Council gave first reading to the proposed rezoning and forwarded the project to a future public hearing.
South Pandosy multi-family
Council gave first reading to the proposed rezoning and Official Community Plan amendments for a five-storey, 99-unit housing development on the corner of KLO Road and Richter Street near Okanagan College. The two lots will be consolidated and the existing homes demolished. The project was forwarded to a future public hearing.
Downtown parking changes
Council endorsed several downtown parking management changes, developed in part from feedback from 3,250 people in a fall 2017 survey, a stakeholder meeting and a November 2018 survey. Read the full report here.
Queensway washrooms
Council approved adding a washroom downtown in the Queensway area as a 3-month pilot project, with it staffed between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. A key recommendation of the Nov. 26, 2018, Public Safety Report was to increase access and availability of public washrooms within the downtown core.
