The 80hectare wildfire was sparked by lightning on Tuesday night
The BC Wildfire Service is sending more firefighters to Richter Mountain west of Osoyoos.
It's the site of an 80-hectare wildfire that was sparked by lightning on Tuesday night.
"There will be a total of 61 personnel out there today with some heavy equipment and three helicopters" said Fire Information Officer Nicole Bonnet.
"There's also the option for air tanker support, should it be needed later on in the day"
Winds pushed the fire downhill early Friday morning resulting in the temporary closure of highway 3.
The region is expected to endure some of the highest temperatures in the province Friday afternoon.
