Golf made harder by being visually impaired.
Golf can be challenging at the best of times.
Being visually impaired makes it even more difficult.
Darren Douma is a Blind Golf Canada Director and spoke to AM 1150 News on how the sport continues to grow.
"We have three different sight categories. Players that are 'B-1' they have no light perception, they are totally blind. Then you have 'B-2' golfer that has five percent vision. Then you have 'B-3's' who have about 10 percent vision."
West Kelowna has a blind golfer of their own – he is retired RCMP officer Jeff Skemer.
"All the golfers have coaches who help us line-up our club to the ball. The biggest challenge is searching for the ball," Douma said with a chuckle. "Hopefully more times than not its in the fairway."
