Outdoor sports facilities re opened in cold stream after wet weather

This morning (April 29, 2025) the District’s sports fields and baseball diamonds have been evaluated and the improved conditions allow for re-opening.

______________________________

Original (April 28, 2025)

Due to the current weather conditions, District-owned grass sports fields (including baseball diamonds) are closed temporarily, effective immediately. The closure includes all sports play and public activities on the following fields:

  • Creekside Park
  • Coldstream Park
  • Lavington Park

Due to prolonged rain today, the ground has become saturated and use of these spaces could cause damage to the turf.

Recreation Services will be contacting user groups directly to notify them of the temporary closure. All sports fields and baseball diamonds will be evaluated again tomorrow.

The District appreciates everyone’s understanding and thanks the public for staying off the playing fields today.

To reschedule your rental please contact Greater Vernon Recreation Services at 250-545-6035.
