Albas secures fifth federal mandate

Dan Albas has secured another term as a member of parliament in the new newly redrawn riding of Okanagan Lake West – South Kelowna for the Conservatives.

After an early lead by the Liberal’s Juliette Sicotte — Albas pulled ahead, securing over 54 per cent of the vote at around 9:20 p.m.

“It was a very tight vote nationally, and we always knew it was going to be a competitive election,” Albas said. “We knocked on more doors than I’ve ever done in my career, got more lawn signs out and had more meaningful conversations.”

Albas started his political career as a city councilor in Penticton in 2008. He was first elected to the House of Commons in 2011.

He won re-election in 2015, 2019 and 2021.
