RDCO pilot project to offer bike rentals for Missing Creek Greenway

Visitors to Mission Creek Greenway Regional Park will soon have their pick of the largest cycling rental fleet in Kelowna, including handcycles and adaptive bikes. Starting May 10 through to September 1, 2025, a pilot program with Kelowna Bike Rentals (KBR) will provide bike rentals at the Truswell Road access point.

Five days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., (closed Wednesday and Thursday), visitors will be able to choose from a diverse fleet of rental bikes at the new location. Rental prices vary depending on the bike and duration of rental which can be booked in person or online at kelownabikerentals.ca. Bike storage units placed on-site will not impede parking or Greenway access at the trailhead.

“We are thrilled to partner with KBR to make bike rentals available at this new location and support two local non-profit organizations: CRIS Adaptive and Elevation Outdoors. One of our goals is to make outdoor recreation accessible to everyone, and this will significantly enhance accessibility and inclusivity in a prime location to access one of our most popular parks,” says Wayne Darlington, RDCO Manager – Parks Capital Planning & Asset Management.

Riders are reminded to use trail etiquette on multi-use trails. Please stay to the right and leave space for people to pass on the left. In addition, all are required to observe the speed limit of 15 km/h and use a bell or voice to signal approaching or passing.

Kelowna Bike Rentals is a social enterprise dedicated to providing inclusive and accessible outdoor recreation. With a considerable rental fleet, featuring over 85 cycles, including e-bikes, comfort bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, tandem bikes, handcycles and adaptive bikes, the fleet includes the largest collection of adaptive cycles in Western Canada, making high-quality recreational equipment accessible to individuals with disabilities. All funds generated support CRIS Adaptive and Elevation Outdoors, non-profits that ensure continued access to outdoor activities for individuals of all abilities.
