Police say fraudster at work in Salmon Arm

Officers in Salmon Arm are warning about a crafty scammer operating in the region.

The fraudster is described as 1 40-year-old Caucasian, meeting sellers in Canoe and around 50A Street NE.

The buyer is targeting e-bikes and e-scooters, and claims to have sent the e-transfer to the seller.

However, RCMP said the seller is unable to get the money as the transfer is cancelled after they leave the meeting place with the item.

“While using e-transfer is convenient, it does allow opportunities for both buyers and sellers to be scammed,” Cst. Andrew Hodges said in a media release.

Police recommend using cash as much as possible to ensure the payment has been made before handing over any items.
