Preparations for the award-winning annual “Celebrate Canada Day-Kelowna” event are well underway at Festivals Kelowna. Preparing to welcome more than 50,000 people to downtown Kelowna in celebration of Canada’s birthday on July 1st, the local celebrations will offer so much to see and do including live music on 3 stages, all-ages family activities, sponsor displays, arts and crafts sales, small business exhibit area, a variety of food options, and the annual fireworks display.
“Kelowna’s Canada Day festival is one of the largest and best attended community events each year with tens of thousands of residents and visitors to our community at multiple venues over the course of the day,” explains Renata Mills, Executive Director, Festivals Kelowna. “In fact, this is a great opportunity for artisans and community groups to promote and connect their products and services to huge numbers of people in a single day for a modest fee. We’re almost full in most of the vendor areas but still have room in our ‘Community Showcase’ and our ‘Made in Canada Marketplace’”.
As long as the items are suitable for an all-ages audience, applications will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis for the “Made in Canada Marketplace”, a showcase of local and regional original, handcrafted products, and the “Community Showcase” which provides space for local not-for-profits to connect with the community in a fun, informal way. A third and very busy activity area is the “Century 21 Family Zone” where groups can host an activity to connect with the community and share their information. Businesses looking to connect their brand with Kelowna’s residents and visitors can also play a part in Canada Day through various exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities.
