RCMP continue cracking down on drug trade downtown

The Kelowna RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) continues to make a direct impact on drug trafficking in Kelowna’s downtown core.

On Wednesday May 7, 2025 members of the CRU aggressively focused their efforts on known traffickers and high-risk offenders and were able to successfully remove several items of harm off the streets.  This proactive approach demonstrates the ongoing commitment to target the illicit drug trade in our community and resulted in the seizure of the following;

  • 1 pound of Cannabis,
  • 100 grams of Psilocybin,
  • Approximately 140 grams of Illegal street drugs (primarily cocaine and fentanyl),
  • Weapons,
  • Drug trafficking equipment.

“The Crime Reduction Unit will be providing enhanced policing within the downtown core starting this summer,” says Sgt Scott Powrie of the RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit.  “This not only is to strengthen current enforcement efforts, but to respond directly to the concerns raised by residents and businesses downtown. We continue to adapt and modernize our strategies to ensure we are delivering the highest level of service to the community.”
