City of Penticton wants feedback on Future of Esplande area

What would you like to see at the east end of Okanagan Lake over the next 20+ years? City staff are inviting the community to share what they envision as the future land use in this area for the Esplanade Renewal Plan in this first round of public engagement for this project.

“This is the first round of engagement with the community and user groups to understand what they would like to see in this area over the next 20+ years. Setting a longer-term community vision will guide what kind of amenities we can consider there in the future,” said Steven Collyer, the City’s manager of housing and policy initiatives. “The City is currently completing important archaeological and environmental studies in the area. The results of these studies and feedback from the community will help set the direction for the Esplanade Renewal Plan and further discussion about the area with residents.”

In 2011, concepts showing different levels of naturalization and development were created and are now a starting point for community discussion and input on the future vision for this public area. Review the 2011 concept drawings at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca. Please note that the concepts are meant as visual references only, to encourage the community to think about possible amenities. No elements provided in the examples are guaranteed or supported at this stage.

Learn more by attending the on-site workshop:
• Wednesday, May 28 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 p.m.
• Optional staff-led walking tour at 5:00 p.m.
• Review the example concepts
• Complete the feedback form

Feedback forms are also available at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca. The deadline for comments is June 6, 2025.

A second round of public engagement is planned for fall 2025 which will allow more community feedback on the themes emerging from this initial round of engagement as well as findings from the technical reports currently underway.
