Beginning Tuesday, May 20, Anders Road will be closed as part of continued active transportation improvements.
Anders Road from the roundabout on Boucherie Road to Teal Road is scheduled to be closed for approximately four weeks. Detours will be in effect via Teal Road or Skyline Road.
Matcon Construction is currently completing stormwater upgrades, installing a bike lane and a sidewalk and adding street lighting on Anders Road from the roundabout on Boucherie Road to just past Anders Park.
Crews are continuing to work from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Boucherie Road will remain open to through traffic and Lakeview Village businesses and residences will remain accessible during construction. On Anders Road, traffic controls will be in place, including reduced speeds.
Outside of construction hours, the road will be open to through traffic and work is not scheduled during holidays or weekends. Pedestrian, cyclist, transit and emergency services access will be maintained at all times.
Please note the construction schedule is subject to weather conditions, contractor schedule changes and other factors.
Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time when driving through this area. For the safety of crews and residents in the area, please drive with caution through construction zones, give extra space for roadside workers, and follow directions of traffic-control personnel.
Although this work is being performed by a private contractor, it affects municipal roadways and the City of West Kelowna thanks motorists, area residents and area businesses for their patience and understanding while the work is conducted safely and as quickly as possible.
Boucherie Road temporarily closed for seasonal maintenance
On Wednesday, May 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., crews will close Boucherie Road between Hayman and Stuart Roads to conduct seasonal maintenance.
Crews will:
- Clean catch basins and medians
- Fix irrigation lines
- Mow, trim, prune and weed
- Repair potholes
- Sweep streets and sidewalks
Work requires a full closure of the road, bike lanes and sidewalks to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. Motorists, please use Highway 97 and Hudson Road or Hayman and Stuart as a detour route. Crews will maintain access for emergency vehicles, residents living within the immediate area, buses and transit users.
For everyone’s safety and out of respect for neighbours, please follow traffic control signs and personnel, slow down, and move over for crews, and follow posted speed limits in and around work zones and along detour routes.
