West Kelowna, BC – May 22, 2025 – The Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is thrilled to announce the relocation of its West Kelowna operations to a new, strategically chosen location at #203-3710 Hoskins Road, starting May 27, 2025. This move enhances accessibility, visibility, and public transportation connectivity, ensuring improved service for the growing number of individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Besides doubling the square footage, a significant enhancement at the new location is the implementation of a partial choice model, empowering clients to select part of their hamper based on availability, personal, and dietary preferences. This initiative fosters dignity, reduces food waste, and encourages healthier eating habits. The long-term vision of the choice model will extend to COFB’s Kelowna operations in time.
To equip the new facility with essential infrastructure including fridges, refrigeration units, and a More Than Food resource centre, COFB has set a fundraising goal of $120,000.
In a beautiful show of community spirit, the WUBS Family Foundation has generously committed $60,000 in matching funds, covering half of COFB’s fundraising goal and doubling the impact of every donation. Rooted in compassion, resilience, and a deep belief in sustainable change, the foundation shares COFB’s vision of building a healthier, more connected community to enhance the lives of individuals and families in need.
“We are committed to better serve the residents of West Kelowna,” says Trevor Moss, CEO at COFB. “This move represents more than just a new location — it’s a promise to our neighbours that we are here for them, not just today, but for the long road ahead. With the support of the WUBS Family Foundation and the larger community, we are not only expanding space but also deepening our impact in ways that truly matter.”
Looking ahead, COFB envisions a permanent ‘forever home’ in West Kelowna once a suitable option is secured, and eventually a food transformation hub to optimize equitable food distribution and address the region’s ongoing economic challenges. This long-term solution aims to create sustainable support systems that tackle food insecurity and the broader barriers faced by individuals living on limited incomes.
COFB invites the public, community leaders, and agricultural sector representatives to help shape this vision by attending the official launch of the West Kelowna location on June 3, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
