Get ready to roll! Go By Bike Week is back from May 31 to June 6 and the community is encouraged to leave the car behind and choose active transportation. Go By Bike Week is about biking, skateboarding, or rollerblading, instead of driving. It’s a great opportunity to try something new, reduce emissions, and explore Vernon in a new way.
The City of Vernon is supporting the week with three key events.
- Kick-off Bike Market and Beachy Bike Parade
Friday, May 30 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The week begins with a Bike Market in Polson Park, hosted by the Polson Night Market The parade will roll through the park starting at 6:00 p.m., and community members of all ages are invited to participate. - From June 2 to 6, the City is offering daily guided safety rides, featuring e-bike orientations and trials. Rides start at 10:00 a.m. each weekday from Civic Plaza (3001 32nd Ave). These rides are open to all ages and experience levels and are a great way to learn road safety tips, get comfortable on city routes, and ride alongside others. - Common Unity – Community Celebration
Sunday, June 8 at 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The week wraps up with a community celebration event at Civic Memorial Park (3033 37th Ave. co-hosted by the City of Vernon, Arts Council of North Okanagan and Vernon Pride Society. The event includes a bike safety rodeo, live music, art displays, local vendors, as well as a Pride March to celebrate Pride Week in Vernon.
