Effective at 12pm, Wednesday July 2nd, 2025, the Lower Similkameen Indian Band will be PROHIBITING Category 2 & 3 fires, and Incendiary Devices, on reserve lands & traditional territory. This means that only Category 1 fires are allowed at this time.
Category 1 fires refer to any fire that burns:
· No larger than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide (1.6 feet by 1.6 feet)
· Used for recreational purposes or by a First Nation for ceremonial purposes
Incendiary Devices are prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:
· ALL Fireworks, exploding targets, paper lanterns, etc.,
To report a wildfire, or a fire contrary to current restrictions, please call the LSIB Band Office at 250-499-5528, between 8:30am and 4:30pm during the regular work week. Outside of those hours, please call *-5-5-5-5 on any cellular device, 1-800-663-5555 from any landline, or you can also use the BC Wildfire Service app on Android or on Apple operating systems.
