In April 2022, Gerry Deshayes released an animated video on Don Burnett’s Facebook page of what Kelowna was like back in 1965, and little did he know that the 23-minute creation would grab the hearts of over 40,000 viewers. The comments were so supportive and heartwarming that it inspired Gerry to add and enhance more scenes in a newer version. The soundtrack is a medley of the current hit at the time, but due to copyright infringements, the newer video could not be released on YouTube until now. Join Gerry on a tongue-in-cheek journey starting at the Sails on Bernard Avenue, heading past the United Church on Richter Street to the far reaches of the city that included Pete’s B/A, Shop-Easy and A & W before returning to the starting point via the old floating bridge and the aquatic center. Above all, turn up your stereo and enjoy the music of the time. Simply type in @Kelowna1965 in the YouTube search bar.
