Peachland moves to stage 3 water restrictions

The District of Peachland has implemented Stage 3 water restrictions to reduce outdoor water consumption and decrease the demand on Peachland’s reservoirs.

The District says moving to once-a-week watering is necessary due to ongoing drought conditions and lower-than-optimal levels of upland lakes that feed Peachland’s reservoirs.

Even numbered addresses a permitted to water on Saturdays while Odd numbers get Sundays. Automatic sprinklers are allowed midnight to 6:00 am on permitted days and Manually controlled ones can be used 6 am to 10 am and 7 pm to 11 pm on permitted days. The District says hand watering using a hose with a control valve or hand-held container is permitted at any time. Watering is not allowed between 10 am and 7 pm and residents are being told to not fill pools, tubs or fountains and to not wash vehicles or boats.

The District says Nurseries, farms, orchards and vineyards are exempted users, and are subject to Stage 1 water restrictions. Residents can apply for a permit to water outside of these hours under certain circumstances according to the District.

Watering of public parks is also being reduced. The District of Peachland says it is taking a proactive approach and will not be irrigating its outlying parks. Irrigation of sports fields and downtown parks will continue. The District says it adheres to a conservative watering schedule for its fields, parks and gardens, watering during optimal hours and minimizing watering during sustained days of precipitation.
