Kelowna RCMP said they have arrested a man from Salmon Arm following reports of several break and enters at local businesses.
Police said that on April 15, officers responded to a report of a break-in at an automotive shop in the 1700 block of Harvey Avenue in Kelowna. Property was allegedly stolen from a vehicle in the shop for servicing. Later that afternoon, officers arrested a suspect from Salmon Arm who appeared in court and was released the following day with conditions.
A few days later, on April 18 and April 19, 2026, Kelowna RCMP said officers responded to two separate break-ins at a retail business in the 400 block of Bernard Avenue. On April 20, 2026, police also responded to reports of overnight break-ins at two businesses in the 500 block of Bernard Avenue. Staff at one of the businesses reported an individual had stolen several items, including a laptop computer.
RCMP said evidence from the scenes led investigators to believe the same suspect was responsible for these alleged offences. Police said that later that day, officers located and arrested the suspect again.
RCMP said the man has been charged with four counts of break and enter and theft and one count of failure to comply with a release order.
Police said the suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 29, 2026.
“Property crime, particularly break-ins targeting local businesses, remains a priority for the Kelowna RCMP,” said Cpl. Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP media relations officer. “Through quality investigative work and coordination between our proactive enforcement unit and frontline officers, police were able to identify and arrest an individual who is allegedly responsible for targeting members of the business community.”
Police said the man was also arrested in early January. On Jan. 2, 2026, Sicamous RCMP received information that a man was inside a residence in the 500 block of Spruce Street, contrary to his release conditions. Police said the man had previously been arrested on Dec. 31 and released on several conditions in relation to an alleged assault that took place that day. Conditions included not attending the residence and having no contact with the victim.
Police entered the home on Jan. 2 and arrested the man, who was found hiding in a closet. He was charged with several offences, including assault, uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.
