The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) says rising water levels in Mission Creek have forced the temporary closure of the Mission Creek Greenway underpass at Casorso Road.
A temporary pedestrian crossing has been installed across Casorso Road while the underpass is closed. Motorists are being asked by the RDCO to be alert and watch for Greenway users crossing in the area.
As spring conditions continue to change, the underpass may reopen and close intermittently throughout the season depending on rainfall, creek levels and runoff conditions. The underpass will remain closed until water levels recede and conditions are safe.
Regional parks staff continue to monitor creek levels along the Mission Creek Greenway and Scenic Canyon Regional Park corridor.
During spring runoff, water levels in local creeks can rise quickly and without warning. The RDCO warns everyone to keep a safe distance from creek banks, which may be slippery or unstable due to erosion.
