Construction to begin on upgrading transit exchange at Okanagan College

Upgrades to the Okanagan College Transit Exchange will begin this week. The City of Kelowna says the improvements are designed to support growing student enrollment and future service increases.
City Crews will expand the existing bus bay and passenger areas and add two bus shelters with bench seating. The City also says enhancements will be made to bus movement and safety by eliminating the need for stops within the campus entrance way.  Bicycle parking and signage to assist pedestrians, cyclists and transit customers will also be added around the exchange.
The City says the upgrades will complement the Casorso Active Transportation Corridor (ATC) extension, which will connect to the Okanagan College Exchange on K.L.O. Road.
Some construction impacts are to be expected with project completion slated for this October.
The Okanagan College Exchange is part of the broader Kelowna Exchanges program. Other exchanges included are the already completed Rutland Transit Exchange and the Mission Recreation Exchange where work is underway and expected to be complete this fall.
