RCMP in Kelowna have seized a large amount of illicit drugs, cash, jewelry and vehicles believed to be connected to criminal activity in an initiative to disrupt and dismantle a significant drug trafficking network earlier this month.
Kelowna RCMP’s Drugs and Organized Crime Unit executed five search warrants across Kelowna and West Kelowna over a two-day period and seized five kilograms of illegal drugs, $55,000 in Canadian currency, and an estimated $230,000 worth of high-end jewelry and luxury fashion items. RCMP also seized four vehicles that were believed to be connected to a criminal operation.
Mounties also found approximately 15 kilograms of a substance that is commonly used to dilute fentanyl before it is sold on the street.
Police remain committed to taking these illegal drugs off the street, said Staff Sgt. Desmond Kiehlbauch.
“The success of this operation reflects the proactive, ongoing efforts of the Kelowna Drugs and Organized Crime Unit. We remain focused on disrupting mid- to high-level drug traffickers and organized crime groups to reduce the significant harm they cause in our community.”
Three people have been arrested and several others were detained in relation to the operation, however all have been released as investigations continue.
