Morning crash in West Kelowna causes water main break: water quality advisory in place

The City of West Kelowna and Interior Health issued a Water Quality Advisory for properties in the Rose Valley Water Service Area due to a water main break caused by an early morning motor vehicle accident. The incident resulted in a significant loss of water and pressure.

The water advisory is for specific neighbourhoods in South Boucherie and is not related to the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant.

While the water remains safe for most uses, Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone wishing to reduce their risk should use boiled water or an alternate safe drinking water source for drinking, brushing teeth, making infant formula, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice.

Residents can also obtain clean drinking water from the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. Customers can use the station for free during the Water Quality Advisory.  The tap is located on the Asquith Road-side of the facility.
