City of Kelowna wants to reduce traffic jams downtown with designated routes for Water Street Boat Launch

Ahead of what is anticipated to be a busy August long weekend, the City of Kelowna is asking boaters to use a designated access route when travelling to the Water Street Boat Launch. The City says increased demand is expected as the Cook Road Boat Launch is closed over the next two days for dredging work.

The City says designated routes will help keep boat launch traffic moving, reduce congestion on Water Street, maintain emergency access and improve safety.

According to the City, boat-launch traffic approaching from the south must proceed to Ellis Street and use the northbound lane then turn left onto Water Street before turning right into the boat launch. The City also asks all traffic leaving the boat launch only turn right only Water Street.

Designated overflow parking areas for boat trailer parking are also being highlighted by the City. Spots include the Prospera Place parking lot and 1746 Water Street.

Below is a map showing the City’s plan for traffic and parking.
