The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has expanded the Evacuation ORDER for properties within RDNO Electoral Area B due to the Bradley Creek and Quilpituk Creek wildfires.
The RDNO says the Evacuation Order has been expanded due to challenges around available egress routes as two active wildfires continue to impact the Westside Road area. Issuing the Evacuation Order provides residents in need with additional Emergency Support Services (ESS) and safe travel through areas affected by active wildfires, while ensuring limited risk to life and safety.
Currently, there is no immediate threat of wildfire to this area.
The Evacuation ORDER now includes the following areas:
17 and 65 Cain Road
131, 252, 351, 425, 485, 631, 635 Nashwito Road
10, 15, 50, 93 Banks Road
79, 305, 311, 315, 464 Beau Park Road
278, 221, 236, 267 Siwash Creek Road
59 Beatrice Road

The following properties remain on Evacuation ORDER:

Members of the RCMP, Vernon Search and Rescue and other agencies will be expediting the Evacuation Order in an orderly fashion.
The RDNO says between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., residents will be escorted in a convoy out of the area. Effected residents are being told to meet at the corner of Six Mile and Westside Road at 1:00 p.m. to travel north to Highway 97. Anyone requiring Emergency Support Services are being told to go to the ESS Reception Centre at Kal Tire Place in Vernon.
Evacuees will not have access to their properties or be allowed back into the area while the Order is in place. The RDNO says it is critical evacuated residents bring pets and important items.
The RDNO says residents are encouraged to bring their RVs with them as accommodations are limited. They also say residents should shut off all gas and electrical appliances, other than refrigerators and freezers. Close all windows and doors. Close gates (latch) – but do not lock. Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash. Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation. Do not use more vehicles than you must. Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency services. Follow the evacuation route provided.
The RDNO says further information will be issued as updates are received from the BC Wildfire Service. Residents are encouraged to visit the RDNO Website for more information.
