Wildfire activity in the Central Okanagan is affecting operations at Kelowna International Airport, with several flights cancelled.
The airport said wildfire smoke has temporarily made some instrument approaches unavailable.
Travellers flying to or from the airport should check their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the airport. Passengers whose flights have been cancelled are being asked not to go to the airport and to contact their airline about rebooking.
Current flight information is available on the airport’s website at ylw.kelowna.ca.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by these wildfires, and our thanks to the frontline responders, the firefighting air-crews, and emergency personnel working to keep our regional communities safe. For up to date information on the wildfires, please visit Central Okanagan Emergency Management and the BC Wildfire Service.” said Kelowna Airport.
The airport advised travellers to consult Central Okanagan Emergency Management and the B.C. Wildfire Service for current information about the fires.
