Counterfeit cash operation, firearms and drugs taken by RCMP from West Kelowna property

In July 2026, the West Kelowna RCMP Drug Section and Crime Reduction Unit says a search warrant was used at a residence in the 3100 block of Shannon Place in West Kelowna. Mounties say the search resulted in the seizure of counterfeit currency, firearms, illicit drugs, and materials used to produce counterfeit money.

More than $20,000 in counterfeit Canadian currency was found as well as a substantial quantity of counterfeit security holograms and other materials believed to make counterfeit banknotes.

Officers say they also seized seven firearms, ammunition, and quantities of suspected cocaine, MDMA, and ketamine.

One man was arrested at the residence and transported to police cells. The investigation remains ongoing and charges are subject to approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

“This seizure removed a significant quantity of counterfeit currency, illicit drugs, and firearms from our community,” said Corporal Shaun Achtymichuk of the West Kelowna RCMP Drug Section. “Counterfeit currency undermines confidence in our financial system and can have serious impacts on local businesses and residents. This investigation highlights our commitment to disrupting organized criminal activity and enhancing public safety.”

The West Kelowna RCMP also want to remind residents and businesses to remain vigilant when handling cash transactions and to report suspected counterfeit currency to police.

“This investigation demonstrates how crimes often perceived as ‘white-collar’ offences can intersect with the criminal underworld of drug trafficking and the illegal possession of firearms,” added Corporal Shaun Achtymichuk.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
