Alerts removed for properties in Peachland and near under control Quilpituk Creek Wildfire

The remaining evacuation alerts for all properties in Peachland and Electoral Area West due to the Bald Range wildfire have been lifted by the Regional District of Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre.

Although the Bald Range wildfire remains classified as Out of Control, BC Wildfire Service has concluded that the threat to these communities has passed.

Crews will continue mop up operations along the north and south flanks moving east to west and dousing any remaining heat 50 feet in from the fire’s edge. Fire behaviour on these flanks remains low.

The evacuation alert for all properties from Cinnabar Creek to Westshore Estates has also been lifted by the RDCO Emergency Operations Centre.

BC Wildfire Service has the Quilpituk Creek wildfire Under Control, meaning the wildfire is not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.

Westside Road is open to local traffic only along the north end towards Okanagan Indian Band. Drivers travelling on Westside Road are being warned to not stop along the roadway. Slow driving is also recommended as hazards may remain along roadways and wildlife activity may be higher than usual.

A Returning Home Guide is available to  Regional District of Central Okanagan residents who have returned to their properties to support clean-up and safety risks that may remain, along with other relevant resources.

Conditions are extremely dry and if smoke from a wildfire is spotted, report it immediately at *5555 from a cell phone or 1-800-663-5555. If there is threat to life call 9-1-1.
