Vacant house fire in Kelowna overnight

At approximately 11 p.m. on Friday night, the Kelowna Fire Department received reports of a vacant house on fire in the 700 block of Sutherland Ave.
“The first arriving fire officer reported visible flames from the side and roof of the boarded-up building, and smoke throughout the structure,” said Platoon Captain Micah Volk, in a press release.
The Kelowna Fire Department responded with a total of 18 personnel on scene. BCAS, RCMP, and Fortis Gas and Electric responded, as well.
The fire was extinguished and the house was ventilated to remove smoke, but it sustained significant damage.
