The Salvation Army Okanagan Central’s second annual Hope 4 Kids Summer Campaign raised over $132,000.
Funds raised help cover costs of opportunities that their families may not be able to afford due to financial pressures and rising living costs. This includes sports, swimming lessons, counselling and mental wellness supports, tutoring, art and cooking programs, summer camps, and other activities.
The campaign ran from July 1 to August 31 and surpassed the initial goal of $125,000. Donors, volunteers, businesses, and community partners from across the Central Okanagan came together for the event.
“The impact of Hope 4 Kids goes far beyond the dollars raised,” said Captain Rob Henson. “It is seen in the lives of children who gain new opportunities, discover new interests, and build confidence because their community chose to invest in them.”
The Salvation Army Okanagan Central says funds from previous Hope 4 Kids events helped a local teen new to Canada attend summer camp. In another case, a local single parent was able to enroll her child in a horseback riding program.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Captain Jennifer Henson, Officer and Pastor at The Salvation Army Okanagan Central. “Reaching and surpassing this goal means more children will have opportunities to participate, grow, and thrive. Every donation represents hope for a child and support for a family who may be facing financial challenges.”
Last year’s Hope 4 Kids campaign raised $104,323, exceeding its $100,000 goal.
