Get pickled in Glenmore: new pickleball courts open at Glenmore Recreation Park

The City of Kelowna announced nine new outdoor pickleball courts are now open at Glenmore Recreation Park.

“Our contractor worked diligently to complete the courts and surrounding work as quickly as possible so residents can enjoy them this season”, says Melanie Steppuhn, Parks Planning and Design Manager. “While we’re nearing the end of the outdoor recreation season, we’re hopeful that mild weather will give players a few more weeks to get out on the courts before winter arrives.”

The City says the courts were designed to meet Pickleball Canada regulations and will help meet increased demand, while providing relief for users affected by reduced pickleball access at Parkinson Recreation Centre. The courts also feature lighting will allow people to play until 8 p.m. during months with fewer daylight hours.

Additional park features, including 3 new tennis courts, a natural grass sports field, improved pathways, spectator areas, landscaping and other recreational features, will open as final construction work is completed.

The City says constructions crews and equipment will remain active in some areas of the park.
