The West Kelowna RCMP Traffic Services Unit conducted an enhanced enforcement initiative throughout the Thanksgiving long weekend. The initiative led to violation tickets, warnings, investigations, and seizure of illicit drugs.
“Keeping impaired, prohibited, or dangerous drivers off our roads remains a priority for the West Kelowna RCMP,” said Insp. Brendan Dolan, West Kelowna RCMP Detachment.
In a press release, West Kelowna RCMP say officers issued 45 violation tickets and warnings for a variety of traffic related offences. They also began several investigations, including:
- 1 Criminal Code impaired driving
- 3 Driving while prohibited
- 1 Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) – 3 day
- 2 Immediate Roadside Prohibition – 24 hour
- 3 Prohibition from Driving Notices
There are also five additional Criminal Code investigations.
During these investigations, police seized more than 50 grams of illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
West Kelowna RCMP remind motorists to plan ahead, drive sober, obey all traffic laws, and be responsible behind the wheel.
