Ahead of Remembrance Day, Trees for Life and the City of Kelowna, in collaboration with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and Kubota Canada, are planting a 500-tree Hero Forest in Kelowna’s Rotary Marsh Park.
The Hero Forest will acknowledge the origin of the CHL’s Memorial Cup as a remembrance to fallen Canadian military personnel. The new forest will also serve as a living tribute to the courage, service and sacrifice of all Canadian military veterans, living and deceased.
The tree planting will take place following a ceremony on November 10, at 9:30 a.m.
Beyond creating a living tribute to Canadian veterans, the Hero Forest will also introduce native vegetation to Rotary Marsh Park, helping enhance habitat and support ecological restoration and riparian health.
People can donate to have a Hero Tree dedicated to a veteran at treesforlife.ca/kubota.
