The CIBC Run for the Cure was a success this past Sunday in Kelowna.
Despite rainy weather, the run saw 705 participants and raised $122,544 for breast cancer research this past Sunday.
"The amount of money raised per participant went up, so that's fantastic," says Volunteer Run Coordinator Deina Albrecht. "That has been going up over the past few years."
The event also featured its first ever Survivor Fashion Show.
Since 1992, $430 million has been raised for breast cancer research in Canada. While 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, there has been a 44 percent drop in mortality rates due to breast cancer since the mid-1980's.
