Serious Crime investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding a knife assault which left a victim with serious life threatening injuries.
On June 27, 2019 around 11:30p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing incident in the 200-block Bernard Avenue near Water Street in Kelowna. Police arrived on scene where they located the victim who had suffered significant life threatening injuries.
The victim, a 16-year-old Kelowna youth, was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
An individual was taken into police custody and later released pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
"Police believe that the suspect and victim were known to each other and that the general public is not at any risk. As such, the incident is being considered an isolated event, not a random attack,” states Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey, Media Relations Officer for the Kelowna RCMP.
